Diagnostic Biomarkers in Metabolomics
Metabolomics has been devoted to search for biomarkers that can be used for diagnosis and prognosis of malignant tumors. A biomarker reveals further information to presently existing clinical and pathological assessment. It facilitates screening and detecting the disease, monitoring the progression of the disease, and predicting the diagnosis and survival after clinical intervention. Biomarker can be used to upgrade the efficacy of disease treatment by enabling physicians to customize treatment for individual patients. These emerging biomarkers will be advantageous and critical in developing clinically valid indicators that will have a high specificity for the diagnosis. The utility of the biomarker set from a complex multivariate analysis to a binary format applicable for transformation to a field-based diagnostic, validating the use of complex data mining tools applied to infectious disease biomarker discovery and diagnostic development is extended by machine learning.
